8 Elements of Great Landing Pages

Landing pages are used to convert visitors into subscribers, buyers, or leads. Although their purpose is simple enough in theory, actually designing a successful landing page requires some detailed planning and creative testing. To help you get started creating landing pages that work, we’ve collected some tips that are shown to increase your conversion rate.

#1 Offer Corresponds with Prospects’ Intent

The product or offer must match your target audiences needs or wants and align as closely as possible to stay relevant.

#2 Landing Page Has a Compelling Headline

Since the headline is the first thing visitors see, it needs to be as powerful and compelling as possible. This is the number one element to increase conversion rates.

#3 Provide enough, but not too much information

Too much copy can intimidate visitors, while not enough could prevent them to act. How much information that is provided will depend on the complexity of the offer and what you want visitors to do.

#4 Persuasive Call-to-Action

The call-to-action is considered the second biggest opportunity to improve conversion rate, after the headline. Keep it short, 5-7 words is highly effective. The usage of verbs that indicate value are more effective that verbs that simply state visitors what to do ie: “Get my free report” instead of “Submit”.

#5 Advertise Value

If the offer is aligned well with your audience, it will innately have value for you them. The copy must convey that value so visitors understand how it will help them. Value ultimately creates desire, which will lead to move conversions.

#6 Keep It Simple

Shorter registration forms are more successful. All you will really need from visitors is an email address. Any other information will ultimately lower your conversion rate.

#7 Invest in Good Website Design

A successful landing page is equal parts copywriting and design. Simple landing pages with no navigation, extra links, or other distractions will keep visitors from leaving the page. Responsive design is also very important, visitors must be able to see the landing page from a phone or tablet along with desktop computers.

#8 Add Social Proof Elements

Before visitors will click on the call-to-action or fill any forms, they will need to trust you and the page. Examples of social proof include: testimonials and reviews, number of social shares, number of subscribers, client logos, third-party certifications, security badges.

Landing pages exist to serve one purpose: getting website visitors to convert to the next stage in the buying journey. The above components are essential for designing an effective landing page. These elements will help you create a high-converting and powerful landing page.
